Hold the device steady in good light and let the page fill most of the frame. Keep the page flat and parallel to the camera — scanning at an angle is the most common cause of missed words.

Troubleshooting
My PDF won't import
QuickStudy reads standard PDFs with a text layer. Very large files (roughly 50+ pages) can take a moment. If an import fails, try splitting the PDF into smaller sections or re-exporting it from the app that created it. Scanned-image PDFs with no text layer should be scanned with the camera instead.
Generation says on-device AI is unavailable
On-device generation needs a device that supports Apple Intelligence, with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings. If yours doesn't, you can still type cards yourself, generate them in the cloud with QuickStudy Pro, or add your own API key in QuickStudy's Settings.
My free generations are used up
You get free on-device generations every month, and they reset on the 1st. The pill on the Today screen shows how many you have left. To keep going before then, upgrade to QuickStudy Pro from that pill or from Settings.
Cloud generation failed
Cloud generation needs an internet connection. If your connection drops or the server is busy, QuickStudy drafts the set on your device when it can. Very long documents can go over the cloud size limit, so split them into smaller sections and try again.
I paid for Pro but it isn't active
Open Settings › Upgrade to QuickStudy Pro and tap Restore Purchases while signed in to the same Apple Account you used to subscribe. If a purchase needs approval, such as through Ask to Buy, Pro turns on once it's approved.
Cancel or manage my subscription
In QuickStudy, go to Settings › Manage Subscription, or open iOS Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. Pro stays active until the end of the period you've paid for. Apple handles refunds at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Cards came out messy
Clean source text makes better cards. Re-scan in better light, or paste the text and tidy it before generating. On the review screen, tap a draft to fix it or swipe left to remove it before you save.

What do I need to run QuickStudy?
iOS 26 or later on iPhone or iPad. On-device card generation uses Apple Foundation Models, which needs a device that supports Apple Intelligence with Apple Intelligence turned on. On other devices you can still type your own cards or generate them with QuickStudy Pro.
Does it need an internet connection?
No. Scanning, on-device card generation, practice, quizzes, and streaks all work offline.
You only need a connection for cloud generation (your first free cloud set, or QuickStudy Pro), for your own API key if you add one, and for purchases.
What can I turn into flashcards?
Pages you scan with the camera (including handwritten notes), photos and PDFs, and text you paste in from anywhere. You can also type cards yourself.
Do I have to keep every card the AI makes?
No. New cards show up as drafts before anything is saved. Drafts are kept by default: tap a card to edit it, swipe left to remove it, then save the set. Each card shows which page and paragraph it came from, so you can check it against your notes.
How do quizzes and streaks work?
Quizzes are multiple choice, built from your saved cards. Each question includes a “Why?” explanation tied to your source. Cards you miss come back sooner, and cards you know come back less often.
Your streak counts the days you finish a session. You earn a Streak Freeze for every seven days you study, and one is used automatically when you miss a day.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no login, and no profile. Open the app and start scanning.
Where is my data stored?
Your documents, cards, and study history are stored on your device. If you use iCloud Backup, iOS includes QuickStudy in that backup the same way it does any other app.
Delete a set inside the app to remove it, use Settings › Delete All Study Sets, or uninstall QuickStudy to remove everything.
When does my text leave my device?
Only when you use cloud generation. QuickStudy asks for permission first, and if you tap “Not now” your cards are drafted on your device instead.
When you allow it, the text you’re generating from goes to QuickStudy’s server, where AI running on Cloudflare drafts the cards. The text isn’t stored after the cards come back. The privacy policy has the details.
What is QuickStudy Pro?
An optional subscription, billed monthly or yearly through the App Store, that generates cards in the cloud. Pro works on every iPhone, including ones without Apple Intelligence, handles whole documents instead of splitting them into chunks, and includes 150 cloud generations a month.
You can cancel anytime in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. If you reinstall or switch devices, open QuickStudy Pro from Settings and tap Restore Purchases.
How much does it cost?
QuickStudy is free to download. Your first set is drafted in the cloud for free (if you allow it), and after that you get 10 free on-device generations every month. They reset on the 1st.
QuickStudy Pro is optional. Current prices are shown in the app and on the App Store.
Can I use my own API key?
Yes. In Settings you can add a key for an OpenAI-compatible or Anthropic-compatible endpoint. It’s off by default. When it’s on, the text you generate from goes only to the provider you chose, under that provider’s terms. Your key is stored in the iOS Keychain.
Does QuickStudy collect analytics?
Only anonymous counts, like whether onboarding finished or a paywall was shown. They never include your document text, your cards, or anything that identifies you. You can turn them off in Settings › Share anonymous usage.
