Privacy Policy

Summary

• No accounts. No sign-up and no login. The developer doesn't know who you are.
• On-device by default. Scanning, OCR, on-device card generation, practice, quizzes, and streaks run on your iPhone or iPad.
• Cloud generation needs your permission. Text leaves your device for QuickStudy's server only after you allow it, and it isn't stored after your cards are returned.
• No tracking or ads. QuickStudy doesn't track you across apps or websites and contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.
• Optional anonymous usage counts that you can turn off in Settings.

Information Stored on Your Device

QuickStudy stores your documents, scanned text, draft and saved study cards, quiz history, study sessions, and streak information on your device using standard iOS storage. Your preferences and your remaining monthly free generations are also stored on the device. The developer cannot access any of this.

Some small values are kept in the iOS Keychain: any API key you add, the key QuickStudy uses to prove it's the genuine app (see App Attest below), and your free-generation count. Keychain items can remain on the device after you uninstall the app. This keeps a reinstall from resetting your free generations. Keychain items never contain your notes or cards.

On-Device AI

When your device supports Apple Intelligence, QuickStudy generates cards on the device using Apple Foundation Models. None of the text or cards involved leave your device.

Cloud Generation (QuickStudy Pro and Your Free Cloud Set)

QuickStudy can also generate cards on its own server. This happens only in two cases: your first set, if you allow it, and generations while you have a QuickStudy Pro subscription. Before anything is sent the first time, QuickStudy asks for your permission. If you choose "Not now," your cards are drafted on your device (or, on devices without on-device AI, you can type them yourself). Saying no never blocks you from using the app.

When you use cloud generation:

• What is sent: the text you're generating cards from, plus the information needed to confirm the request is allowed (described below). Images from your camera or photo library are not sent. Only the text read from them is sent.
• Who processes it: QuickStudy's server runs on Cloudflare, and the cards are generated by AI models hosted on Cloudflare Workers AI. Cloudflare processes the request for the developer as a service provider.
• Retention: your text and the generated cards are used only to return your cards. Neither the developer nor QuickStudy's server stores them after the response is sent, and they are not used to train AI models.

To confirm a cloud request is allowed, QuickStudy sends and the server keeps:

• App Attest key. The first time you use cloud generation, QuickStudy registers a key using Apple's App Attest service. It proves requests come from the genuine app on a real device. The server stores the key's public half, a usage counter, and the date it was registered. It is used to record whether your one free cloud generation has been spent and to limit request rates. It isn't linked to your name, Apple Account, or any other identity.
• Subscription proof. Pro requests include Apple's signed record of your subscription. The server checks it with Apple's certificates and keeps a count of the month's generations, keyed by the subscription's transaction ID. The count expires after about 35 days. The developer never receives your name, email, or payment details.

Like any internet service, Cloudflare sees your device's IP address while delivering the request. The developer doesn't store IP addresses.

Your Own API Key (Optional)

You can add an API key for a third-party AI provider in Settings. This is off by default. When it's on, the text you generate from is sent directly from your device to the provider and endpoint you configured. It is not sent to QuickStudy's server. That provider's privacy policy and terms govern how it handles your data, and the developer has no control over it. Your key is stored in the iOS Keychain and sent only to the endpoint you configured. Turn the feature off at any time to return to on-device generation.

Anonymous Usage Counts

To improve the app, QuickStudy can send anonymous counts to its server when a session ends. Examples: whether onboarding was finished, whether a paywall was shown or dismissed, how many sets and study sessions were completed, and whether the device supports on-device AI. The counts are small numbers and yes/no values. They never include document text, card text, or anything that identifies you. The server adds them into daily totals across all users and doesn't keep a per-person record. Daily totals are kept for about 13 months.

This is on by default. Turn it off anytime in Settings › Share anonymous usage. Turning it off also discards any counts not yet sent.

Purchases

QuickStudy Pro is sold through the Apple App Store. Apple handles payment, and the developer never receives your payment information, name, or email. The app checks your subscription status with Apple's StoreKit, and the server verifies it as described above.

App Permissions

QuickStudy may request the following iOS permissions:

• Camera: only for scanning documents. Scans are processed on your device.
• Photo Library / Files: only when you choose to import a photo or PDF. Imports are processed on your device.

Each permission is requested only when you start the related action, and you can revoke it anytime in iOS Settings. If you use cloud generation, the text read from a scan or import is sent as described above. The images themselves are never sent.

Third Parties

QuickStudy has no third-party advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking frameworks. The only outside services involved are:

• Apple: App Store distribution, purchases, App Attest, and on-device Apple Intelligence.
• Cloudflare: hosts QuickStudy's server and the AI models used for cloud generation.
• The AI provider you configure, only if you add your own API key.

The developer does not sell or share your personal information, and does not use your data for advertising.

Deleting Your Data

Delete individual sets in the app, or use Settings › Delete All Study Sets. Uninstalling QuickStudy removes its local storage. Keychain items may remain, as described above.

The only data the server keeps is the App Attest record, the monthly generation count, and anonymous daily totals. None of it contains your content or identifies you, so the developer has no way to tell which record belongs to you. If you want your App Attest record deleted, email the developer and they'll help however they can.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data, including under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, UK GDPR, and California Consumer Privacy Act. These can include the right to access, correct, delete, or object to processing. The developer processes cloud-generation requests to provide the service you asked for, and anonymous usage counts for its legitimate interest in improving the app, which you can switch off. The developer holds no data that identifies you, but you can contact them with any request atjaidenhenleydev@gmail.com.

Children's Privacy

QuickStudy is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in applicable EU member states), and the developer doesn't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through QuickStudy, contact the developer and it will be deleted.

Apple's Role

Apple may collect device and transaction information when you download QuickStudy or buy a subscription. Apple's Privacy Policy governs that collection, not this policy. If you use iCloud Backup, iOS includes QuickStudy's local data in your backup. Apple manages that backup, and the developer can't access it.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
